Cranford BOE Pres. Talks Teacher Evaluations, 2013 Goals
Board of Education President Mary Venditti says she is focused on new administrator hires and ensuring the teacher evaluation pilot is successful.
Patch asked Board of Education President Mary Venditti what some of her goals were for 2013, and this is what she said:
This year, as Board President, I want to continue working as a team with my fellow board members to further enhance the education of the children of Cranford.
In these very trying economic times, I will work with the Finance Committee to ensure that our budget stays well under the 2% cap, while still providing a quality education to our students.
I will also be working with the Superintendent, administrators and board to hire the best candidates for Asst. Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction and Director of Special Education for the 2013-2014 school year. These are key positions that will require only the best to continue the excellence we have experienced over the past few years.
We are currently focused on the new teacher evaluation process, for which we are a pilot district. As a pilot district, we were awarded grant money from the department of education (DOE) to implement the training and new regulations for evaluations.
As a member of the pilot program committee, it is exciting to know that Cranford will be one of the few districts in the state that will serve as a model for other districts during the 2013-2014 school year, when this new process is implemented throughout the state.
