Remembering Capitola Dickerson (Photos)
An influential Union County resident is honored for her service to the community.
A memorial service was held Saturday morning, Sept. 22, at St. John's Lutheran Church to honor a beloved teacher of music students in Summit, Millburn, Cranford and Westfield.
The late civil rights activist and renowned local piano teacher, Capitola Dickerson passed away in June. Julliard-trained and Columbia University-educated, Dickerson was born in Ohio, but moved to Summit where she lived some 80 years.

Mrs Dickerson was my landlady for my first 6 months living in New Jersey. I got a real bargin for $50/ month with a well kept room in a spacious house and a fine, dignified landlady.
