Cranford Police Charge Eight Drivers With Marijuana Possession

Monday, Oct. 4

Cranford Police arrested driver Hasan Wilder, 21, for allegedly possessing less than 50 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia on North Avenue by John Street. 

Officer Timothy O'Brien originally stopped Wilder at 4:10 p.m. after spotting an object dangling from the rearview mirror obstructing the windshield. Wilder also failed to turn his headlights on along with his wipers, according to Lt. Robert Colaneri of the Cranford Police Department.

After investigating further, O'Brien arrested Wilder, a Newark resident, for the drug charges. He also received summonses for the object dangling from his mirror and for not turning on his headlights.

Cranford Police arrested five occupants of a black Chrysler, charged with possessing marijuana and drug paraphenalia: Tyrone Tiru, 18, a Cranford resident, Ian Wooten, 18, an Elizabeth resident, Mohamed Alaoui- Sossi, 18, a Cranford resident, Chelsea Hofmann, 19, a Roselle Park resident, and Erica Marano, 18, a Cranford resident.

Offier Eugene Perrotta originally stopped the vehicle on Elise Street at Johnson Avenue due to a non-working brake light. After further investigation, the officer arrested occupants at 1:26 a.m. on the drug charges, according to Colaneri.

Wednesday, Sept. 29

Cranford Police arrested driver Keenan McKinnon, 18, for allegedly possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

While working a motor vehicle checkpoint, officer Timothy O'Brien initially pulled over McKinnon's black Pontiac Grand Am because the windows were tinted, according to Colaneri. After investigating further, drug charges were filed and at 11:21 a.m., police arrested McKinnon.

Tuesday, Sept. 28

Cranford Police arrested Margaret McCrea, 24, for allegedly possessing under 50 grams of marijuana and drug parapernalia. 

Officer Thomas Stiansen stopper McCrea's vehicle on Centennial and South Avenues for driving while talking on a cell phone. After further investigation, drug charges were filed, and around 6:53 p.m., Stiansen arrested McCrea.
