Cranford Teen Arrested For Weapon Possession, Assault

Two Garwood girls reported being hit by paintballs near the Centennial Avenue Pool.

 

The following information was obtained from the Cranford Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

A 19-year-old Cranford resident was arrested on Nov. 11 for assault and possession of a weapon following an incident at the Centennial Avenue Pool.

At about 8:26 p.m. on Saturday, Cranford Police officers were dispatched to the Centennial Avenue Pool on a report of individuals on motorized mini bikes firing paintball guns at people.

When the officers arrived, they spoke to two 13-year-old girls who were struck with paintballs. According to police reports, one of the girls had been struck in the face with a paintball. Following an investigation, Patrolman Steven D’Ambola arrested Zachary Zulick, 19, of Cranford.

Zulick was charged with two counts of aggravated assault — and third degree offense, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose — a third degree offense and unlawful possession of a weapon — a fourth degree offense. Zulick was released with a Nov. 14 Union County Superior Court date.
