Cranford police reports, Dec. 18-22.

After he attempted to escape apprehension by fleeing on foot, Cranford Police caught, arrested and charged Isiah Bennett, 40, for driving while under the influence of alcohol around 5 a.m. Sunday.

Bennett, an Irvington resident, struck a parked vehicle belonging to a Cranford resident while driving a gray Dodge Charger on Locust Drive. He climbed out of the car and ran in the direction of Orange Avenue.

Cranford Police caught up with Bennett two blocks away from Orange Avenue School. Officers also found an open container of cognac in Bennett's vehicle.

Emergency services transported Bennett to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Rahway as a precautionary measure, the police report says. Released from the emergency room, Bennett's court date is today in municipal court.

Here are the rest of this week's reports:

After police arrived on the scene, emergency services transported a 24-year-old female passenger to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital at Rahway for minor injuries, the police report says.

While peeking in the car, O'Brien observed multiple open containers of alcohol in the vehicle. Lassiter however refused to submit to a breath test to determine alcohol intoxication.

Lassiter was charged with narcotic possession and driving under the influence of alcohol. Police also charged Lassiter with maintenance of lamps for the busted tail light. He was also apprehended for refusing to submit to a breath test.

The Jersey City resident was driving down South Avenue West when Ptl. Steven D'Ambola pulled over his vehicle by Elise Street for illegal tinted windows, a non-functioning tail light and erratic driving. D'Ambola also charged Weathers for driving with a suspended license.
