Police Blotter: Routine Traffic Stop Leads To DWI Arrest Near Parkway

The following information was obtained from the Cranford Police. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

 

April 11

  • At 8:28 p.m., Officer Nelson Hearns stopped a 1990 Honda for a motor vehicle violation in the area of Springfield Avenue and West End Place. After a brief on-scene investigation, Officer Hearns discovered that the driver, Johnathan Suscal, 21, of Newark, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from the City of Newark totaling $325. Also, the passenger, Wendy P. Poslonces-Reis, 30, of Elizabeth was found to have outstanding warrants out of Elizabeth and Dover totaling $840. Both Suscal and Posloncer were released pending court proceedings.

April 12

  • At 12:20 a.m., Officer Robert Thomas Stiansen stopped a 1995 Cadillac in the area of South and Meeker avenues for improper passing. After a brief on-scene investigation Officer Stiansen arrested and charged Davon T. Alston, 21, of Orange for possession of less than 50 grams on marijuana, possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle and improper passing. Alston was released with a date pending.

April 13

  • At 11:21 p.m., Officer Derek Farbanec stopped a suspicious person in the area of Meeker Avenue and Quine Street. After a brief investigation on scene, it was determined that Curtis R. Davis, 54, of Plainfield, had outstanding warrants out of Scotch Plains, Fanwood and North Plainfield totaling $1315. Curtis was turned over to Scotch Plains police with Cranford Municipal Court proceedings pending.

  • At 11:28 p.m., Officer Robert Jordan stopped a 1995 Mercury Cougar in the area of North Avenue and Garden State Parkway after he observed the vehicle drifting into other lanes of travel. Also, Officer Jordan observed a broken driver’s side tail light. After stopping the car and conducting an on scene investigation, Officer Jordan arrested and charged Bryan E. Carter, 31, of Roselle, with driving while intoxicated, having an open container of alcoholic beverage in the vehicle, failure to maintain a lane and failure to maintain lamps. Carter was released with a Cranford Municipal Court date pending.
  • At 12:53 a.m., Officer Christopher DiFabio stopped a 2006 Infinity in the area of Centennial Avenue and Raritan Road after the vehicle made an illegal left turn, cutting off the marked patrol unit. After a brief on scene investigation, Officer DiFabio arrested and charged Christian Blanco, 27, of Cartaret, with driving while intoxicated and improper turn. Blanco was released with a Cranford Municipal Court date pending.
