Runner, 76, Dies After Collapsing at New Year's Race in Westfield
Cranford-based sponsor of the Hangover 5K issues statement about runner's death. Patrick Brady was a longstanding member of the Central Jersey Road Runners.
Patrick Brady, 76, was transported to the hospital Tuesday after eyewitnesses said cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was performed during the 31st annual run. Race organizers said several members of CJRRC are doctors who were on the scene right away and added that "all of our RRCA coaches are First Aid and CPR certified."
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our own longstanding CJRRC members Patrick Brady at the Hangover 5k," a message on the CJRRC's website stated. "We will post information about the arrangements as soon as they are provided by his family."
