UPDATE (12:05 p.m.) Streets Submerged, Trees Down, Police Department Evacuated
An update on the damage left in Hurricane Irene's wake.
Due to a total loss of power and heavy flooding the area, the Cranford Police Department has been evacuated. Police Chief Eric Mason, who is serving as the emergency management coordinator, was unavaiable to talk to the media regarding the evacuation.
In addition, readers have alerted us to the fact that there's a tree down at Balmiere Parkway and there is 8 feet of water on Riverside Drive. In additon, West Holly Street has downed trees and North Avenue is now closed in Cranford and Garwood.

Walnut Ave between South and Raritan Road is full of downed trees and water. Please stay away for your safety. Many houses between Lincoln and Blake have flooded basements and backyards. Power is still on in the area.

Mansion Terrace, Broad St., High St. (eastern end), Elm, Pine, Hawthorne, and parts of Lehigh are submerged. Flooded basements and backyards everywhere. Some power is on, others don't have any.

As of 320 pm water line here at Lincoln park east down about 6 inches thank God. River still in white water stage. Floating cars in the parking lot. Water still coming out of front door of the Krausers

we have office at 19 holly st. is it still flooded? we are between eastman and orchard sts. how high is the water now and how high did it go up? there is a river right behind our building, across from the park. anyone please give us info. thanks.

Is Walnut Ave accessible between South and Raritan RD? How about Train station? Is Centennial and South still flooded?
