Cranford Teen Wins 'Outstanding Performance' Award at Montclair Theatre Night

Julia Linger of Cranford won Outstanding Performance by an Actress in Supporting Role at the Montclair Theatre Night Awards.

Julia Linger of Cranford, a sophomore at The Wardlaw-Hartridge School in Edison, walked down the red carpet and returned home with the award for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role at the Montclair State University Theatre Night Awards on April 26. One of 12 nominees for the award in this statewide competition, Linger won for her portrayal of Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker, the Wardlaw-Hartridge fall play in 2012. Linger has been acting since second grade, mostly in school plays but also in a few community theater productions. Queen Anne Victorian Mansion Featured on May 11 Tour of Notable Homes

Tour benefits the Westfield Symphony Orchestra.

An authentically restored elegant Queen Anne Victorian mansion located in Plainfield New Jersey’s Van Wyck Brooks Historic District and listed in the National Register of Historic Homes, is one of five notable homes to join the Friends of Westfield Symphony Orchestra’s annual tour to benefit the orchestra on Saturday, May 11, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.  The three-story, 7,500 square foot mansion, located in an area once known as “millionaire’s row” was designed in1893 by New York architect Charles H. Cranford HS Academy Dance Program to Host Spring Concert May 10

The program has had an excellent 2013 so far.

The following information was provided Cranford High School Academy Dance Program. The Cranford High School Academy Dance Program is having an excellent 2013! In February, the CHS Dance Academy  hosted the American Repertory Ballet Company from Princeton, who set a work on the junior and senior students.  In March, twenty Academy students attended four days of intense workshops, master classes, performances and recruitment at the Regional High School Dance Festival in Norfolk, VA.  While in Virginia, several students were accepted and received scholarships to prestigious summer programs including The Joffrey Ballet, Leon Dance Arts and The University of the Arts Pre-College Dance Intensive. Westfield's Hedgehog & Feather Theatre Company presents 'The Secret Garden' - Spring Version Mother's Day weekend

When recently orphaned Mary Lennox (Edison School 8th grader Emmanuelle Nadeau) is sent to England to live with her uncle Archibald Craven (Ty Jacobs of Millburn), Mary discovers a garden, locked and neglected, and wonders how she can find the key to get into it.  The story that follows is one of renewal and awakening, a perfect tale for this year’s long-anticipated spring, and a theatrical treat for Mother’s Day weekend. Cranford's "Seussical" to Hold Auditions May 11

The show will be presented by The Theater Project in Cranford.

The following information was provided by Theater Project Junior in Cranford. New Jersey kids can audition for the show “Seussical,” this year’s presentation by Theater Project Junior in Cranford. Each summer, the program takes students (ages 8-18) through an eight-week course that culminates in three performances for friends, family and the community. Auditions are being held on Saturday, May 11 and parents interested may schedule an appointment by emailing Mary Iannelli at mary@thetheaterproject.org. “Seussical” will run Aug. 16-18 at the Jardine Academy, 61 Myrtle St. in Cranford.
