The annual Plen Air, or "open air" event and sale will be hosted by Jersey Central Art Studios of Cranford.
Jersey Central Art Studios of Cranford is pleased to announce that it will host its fourth annual Cranford Plein Air Event and Sale in Cranford on June 4th through 9th. “Plein air” means “in the open air” and is used to describe loose and fresh outdoor landscape painting. Thirty professional plein air/landscape artists have been selected by entry judge Marc Dalessio and will be descending on the town of Cranford to compete for $5,000 in cash prizes and to exhibit and sell their work to the public. The artists are drawn from around the country and will have only four days to produce paintings of the local area to be submitted for judging and awards on Saturday June 8th. The local college theater will present three one-act plays later this week. Admission is free.
The following press release was submitted by the Union County College Press Office. The Spring Theater production, “Triple Play,” at Union County College features three one-act plays written by members of the College’s faculty and staff. The productions will be performed by Union County College students. After each performance, the audience is invited to ask questions of the playwrights. The first play, “A Night at the Underground Railroad,” is a historic drama and was written by Michael Catalano, a member of the College’s Information Technology staff. Singing groups from Cranford High School will perform in the first concert on the spring season on April 25.
The Cranford High School Performing Arts Department begins its Spring Concert Season with the Spring Choral Concert on April 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the CHS Auditorium. Enjoy selections from the Women’s and Men’s Choruses, the Noteworthy Gentlemen, the Women’s Ensemble, the Madrigal Choir, and the Concert Choir. The concert is free and open to the public. The Concert Choir and Madrigal Choir recently returned from a tour of Southern California where the student performed onboard the USS Midway aircraft carrier in San Diego, and took part in vocal workshops at Disneyland and with professors from San Diego State University and Pepperdine University.
