Parents and caregivers are invited to a free talk and guided discussion on coping with the tragic events that took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, CT.
Free talk and guided discussion will take place at Open Door Therapy at 111 Quimby Street, Suite #11 in Westfield on Friday, December 21st. There will be two 1.5 hour sessions. The first session will take place from 9:30 a.m - 11:00 a.m. and the second session will take place from 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm .
The sessions are free, but space is limited therefore registration is required.
Audience: Adults - parents, caregivers, grandparents, community members.
Purpose: To support parents and caregivers in processing reactions to the CT tragedy
The talk and guided discussion will include:
1. How adults can support and care for one another at home and in the community.
2. Help for parents and caregivers in responding to their children and one another
3. How to identify reactions and behaviors that may require additional support and intervention
4. How to monitor and regulate media exposure of the event
Time: 1.5 hours
Date:: Friday, December 21st - Two Options: 1. 9:30 a.m - 11:00 a.m
2. 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
