SPECIAL NEEDS PROGRAM SAMPLER AT THE WESTFIELD AREA Y A SUCCESS

The Westfield Area Y hosted a variety of Program Samplers this summer for young adults with special needs. Thanks to the proceeds raised from Greta’s Run, the samplers were free of charge.

Over 30 young adults and 30 volunteers participated in the samplers. Classes included: fitness, art, swimming, yoga, cooking and a social get together. Young adults and volunteers came from all over New Jersey to participate. As a result of its success, the Dragonfly Program, a swim class designed for young adults with special needs is being developed and launched in the fall. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify and class cost will be subsidized by Greta’s Run proceeds. The Westfield Area Y accepts Easter Seals.

The Y would like to thank the following businesses for hosting the samplers: Classic Thyme Cooking, The Juice House of Garwood, Donna Rubin Designs, Juxtapose Gallery and the duCret School of Art.
