Connecticut Street Property Still An Eyesore

High grass, overgrown trees and a fallen gutter on one abandoned home create an eyesore for neighbors.

The home at 14 Connecticut St. has been abandoned for quite sometime and according to one resident, "it gets worse everyday."

Longtime Cranford resident Bob D'Ambola spoke at a previous Cranford Workshop meeting about how the property is drawing insects, mice and cats to the grounds.

In the case of the Connecticut property, the person who now owns it lives in another state, Township Administrator Joe Hartnett said. He added that the township is actively addressing the property so that it gets maintained and does not have to become a burden for taxpayers.

When viewing the property, trees, grass and bushes are extremely overgrown and a gutter is falling across the front of the home.

Unfortunately for residents it is an ongoing eyesore, as are other properties in the Township.

One commenter "Roseanne" told Patch that there is also an issue with a property on the corner of John and North Avenues.

Hartnett expressed that he and township employees have been working to take inventory of properties that are issues.
