County Crews Continue Tree Cleanup in Cranford

A County public works crew was in Cranford this week taking care of a downed tree near the municipal building.

Workers from the Union County Public Works shade tree division were out clearing up remnants from Superstorm Sandy on Wednesday afternoon. About half a dozen workers were hauling away tree trunks that were sitting on county land near the grounds of the Cranford Historical Society.

A crew member chainsawed his way through a trunk while others helped maneuver other large pieces onto a truck. The crew was making the rounds through Union County this week, just a couple of months since the storm wrecked havoc on swaths of North Jersey.

"It's been non-stop [storm cleanup] ever since," one worker said about the efforts. Workers were coming from Plainfield, with another stop in Kenilworth and final drop off in Springfield.
