Cranford Ranked 34th Safest Community in NJ by Safewise

Safewise pairs data from the FBI's Crime in the U.S. Report from 2011 with their own comprehensive investigation.

The Township of Cranford was named the 34th safest community in New Jersey earlier this month by the company, Safewise.

Cranford was ranked out of 50 communities for its civic organizations, recreation programs and close-knit community, according to Safewise.

To create the Top 50 list, Safewise uses the data from the 2011 FBI's Crime in the U.S. Report, in addition to their own comprehensive investigation.

The FBI report stated that Cranford had less than 10 violent crimes reported in 2011.

The study also referenced Cranford's access to New York City, outdoor pools, bike path, canoe club, neighborhood parks, tennis courts and more.

Scotch Plains also made the list as the 33rd safest town, while Westfield was listed as 36th.

The No. 1 safest community was Mahwah Township. To learn more about the ranking, visit the Safewise website.
