Cranford Memorial Day Parade - May 30, 2011

The Cranford Recreation and Parks Department is pleased to announce its annual Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 30, 2011.  Line up begins at the Community Center, 220 Walnut Ave in Cranford at 8:30 a.m. and marching commences at 9:00 a.m. ending with a traditional memorial ceremony at Memorial Park on Springfield Avenue between Riverside Drive and Central Avenue at 10:00 a.m.   Joining the line of march is: VFW Color Guard, The Grand Marshal, Captain Thomas W. Marotta, VFW Post #335, Men’s Auxiliary VFW Post #335, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Cranford High School Band, Flag bearers carried by Boy Scout Troops 75 and 80, The Mayor and Township Committee, Cranford Police, Cranford Fire Department, Cranford First Aid Squad, Cranford Council Knights Of Columbus, Deidre Shea School of Irish Dance, Union County Pipes and Drums Band, Military Transport Association,
Cranford Historical Society, Crane’s Ford D.A.R, Orange Ave. Band, Cranford Republican Club, Azure-Masada Lodge #22 F & AM, Azure Chapter #87 Order of the Eastern Star, Union Chapter DeMolay, Cranford Democratic Club, Mayor & Council, Borough of Garwood,
Garwood Fire Department, Garwood First Aid Squad, Sunny Acres Civic Group, Cranford Elks #2006 Motorcycle Club, Bill Mackey’s Car Group and other vehicles, Hillside Ave. Band, Cranford Community of Girl Scouts, Boy Scout Troops 75 & 80, Cub Packs 75, 103 & 175, Cranford Lacrosse Club, Cranford Baseball & Softball League, and Trinitas Hospital Emergency Management Service. The Cranford High School Madrigal Ensemble and the Cranford High School Band will provide musical selections at the ceremony. In case of inclement weather, services only will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Bates Hall, on Springfield Avenue between North Union Avenue and Miln Street at 10:00 a.m. A limited number of American stick flags will be distributed to those along the parade route.  Please make sure to waive your flags to show support of the various groups as they pass by.  For further information, call the Recreation & Parks Department at 908-709-7283.  All are welcome.
