Fourth of July Fun in Cranford

Check out the events around Cranford this Independence Day.

When it comes to celebrating America's Birthday, Cranford knows how to throw a big bash. Every year on the Fourth of July, Cranford hosts plenty of fun activities and events for the whole family. 

The township will kick off the festivities with the annual hosted by the Cranford Canoe Club at 8:00 a.m. The races will be broken into several categories, and trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each section. For more information, visit this website.

, sponsored by Investors Savings Bank and the Cranford Jaycees, will begin at 9:00 a.m. at Nomahegan Park. Registration is $25 the day off and includes a t-shirt. Following the race, residents can enjoy refreshments, music, popcorn, balloons, and face painting in the park. There will be food vendors in the park offering zeppoles, pork and beef barbecue, sausage and hot dogs, ice cream and assorted drinks from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Nomahegan will also hold contests and games throughout the day, including the Bike Decorating Contest and Egg Toss.

The most exciting event, of course, is the at 9:05 p.m. The display will also commemorate Cranford's 140th Anniversary, and will include a special anniversary wish from fireworks company Garden State Fireworks.  The Cranford Fireworks are co-sponsered this year by Union County, the Cranford Hotel, Dughi & Hewit, P.C., Rogut McCarthy LLC and Harbor Consultants Inc. Limited parking will be available at Union County College, but residents are encouraged to walk if possible.
