The Raritan Valley Coalition (RVC) has been advocating for a one-seat ride into Manhattan for several years and is pressing the case with NJ TRANSIT. Now, it’s time for support from business owners, developers, investors and community leaders in the towns along the Raritan Valley Line.

The importance and benefits of a one-seat ride into Manhattan are numerous.

Your voice and support can be very influential.

Consider these facts:

  • Fast, efficient commuter service to NYC makes living & working near the Raritan Valley Line more attractive to homebuyers, commuters and businesses

  • Countless studies demonstrate that proximity to high quality transit is associated with increased property values

  • Regional Plan Association study estimated that every minute saved on a morning commute to NYC increases nearby home values by $3,000

  • Regional Plan Association study estimated that one-seat service would eliminate a transfer in Newark and  mean a 35 minute reduction in commuting time

  • Summit and Montclair benefited greatly after the one-seat ride went into effect

  • Efficient transportation is important for attracting employees

    • NJ TRANSIT has acquired and is testing 36 new dual powered locomotives, which can allow diesel-only lines like Raritan Valley, to operate one-seat service to Manhattan

    • RVC wants NJ TRANSIT to commit to deploying use of dual-powered locomotives on the Raritan Valley Line to provide a one-seat ride into Manhattan

Plan to join us to hear more from the Raritan Valley Coalition about this effort and hopefully, lend your support to the proposal to NJ TRANSIT. This is important to residents, businesses and investors in our communities. This is important for keeping our communities and business districts strong.

Please feel free to share this invitation.
