This Weekend in Cranford

A guide to the going-ons this weekend.

Take a look at some of the things happening in the area this weekend:

Friday, June 3rd

  • The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Westfield will be holding a "Taste of Greece" Greekfest 2011 begins at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, and promises Greek cuisine, art and great entertainment.
  • The Midtown Wine Merchant in Morristown will host a Wine Tasting Fundraiser to benefit the Operation Bling Foundation. Endless appetizers will be provided by Cafe Beethoven in Chatham, and music provided by "Flutatious!", a fun and elegant four piece flute ensemble. "Bling Gifts" will be available for purchase at OBF's Bling Boutique. Tickets are $45 in advance or $55 at the door.

Saturday, June 4th

  • The American Heart Association Mid-Jersey Start! Heart Walk will be held ay Nomahegan Park.  This event is nationally sponsored by Subway and locally supported by Overlook Hospital.   Envelope drop-off is at 8:30 a.m. and walk time at 10:00 a.m.
  • The Mayo Center for the Performing Arts in Morristown is hosting two shows with legendary comedian Bill Cosby.  This event will take place at 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $107, $92, $77, $67, and $52.   For more information, visit www.mayoarts.org or call 973-539-8008.  

Sunday, June 5th

  • The Centennial Village Group is hosting its inaugural Velocity 5K race at 9:30 a.m. The race will start and finish at the Lincoln School and offers a scenic, flat course through Cranford’s Centennial Village area.  Awards will be given for the top three male and female finishers along with age group awards.  A post race ‘taste’ will be provided by local restaurant, A Toute Heure. The race fee is $25 . Race day registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
  • The Kilkenny House will have live music from featured Irish artist Brian Kennedy from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Stop by for traditional Irish songs, and potential opportunities for open mics.
