Guided Horseback Rides, Watchung Reservation — The Union County’s Watchung Stable is offering guided trail rides at the for riding enthusiasts nine years of age and older. These rides are held on Sundays during the summer at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., weather permitting. Groups of 15 or more people ride along the bridle trails in part of the 2,065-acre Reservation in Mountainside. The rides are on a first come, first served basis and are available to people nine years of age and older, with or without experience. Cost is $28 in-county - $39 out-of-county. Watchung Stable also features special private group rides for individuals and groups up to 15 people. These rides need to be set up in advance at a mutually convenient time. The cost of the private rides includes the rental fee ($28 in-county; $39 for out-of-county riders) and an additional $30 for the instructor. Sunday, Mountainside, $28, 1 p.m.

Fundraising Festival Extraordinaire — Local Cranford High School graduate Mary Kate Mueller is one of 80 Global Citizen Year Fellows of 2012-2013. Mary Kate is hosting a fundraising flea market and arts festival on July 21st and 22nd in Cranford at 56 Burnside Avenue from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day, with the flea market during the day and performances in the late afternoon and evening. The “Fundraising Festival Extraordinaire” features a flea market and art show from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. The flea market will include furniture, instruments, baked goods, local cuisine, clothing, jewelry, and everything in between. The art show will be spotlighting local artists' and photographers' work. From 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. there will be live music and dance performances. Dance performers include Shea Jenning's Irish Dancers (Saturday) and the IDance team from Maplewood (Saturday and Sunday). On Sunday, Debra Biderman from New Jersey Symphony Orchestra will be performing. Aspiring local teen dancers and musicians will also take the stage throughout the weekend.
