Winners of Student Art on Display - Tomasulo Gallery

From May 10 - 31, 2012, the public is invited to view the winning works from the “Union County College 2012 Student Art Competition.”  The exhibit will be on display in the Tomasulo Gallery, located in the MacKay Library on the College’s Cranford campus.  The annual Student Art Competition is sponsored by the Union County College Art Society, a Student Government supported extracurricular organization, and the English/Fine Arts/Modern Languages Department.  Union County College Senior Professors George Hildrew and Anthony Nicoli serve as the club’s advisers.

At the end of each academic year, students at the College are invited to submit art works that they created throughout the year to be judged by a trained outside art professional.  Subsequent to judge review, prizes for creative excellence are awarded in the following categories: Best Work Submitted and First, Second, Third, Fourth and Honorable Mention in the categories of painting, drawing, illustration/design, and photography.

This year the art competition was judged by Ms. Dawn Delicat, who is the Manager of the Pen and Brush, Inc., an international arts organization located in New York City since 1894.  The judging of the event was held on Friday, April 27, 2012.
