Girl Rising Film Screens at Cranford Digiplex
A local high school group is hoping to spread the word about the power of education in foreign countries.
The Westfield High School chapter of Girls Learn International are spreading the word about the girl Girl Rising filming at the Cranford Digiplex Theatre.
Girls Rising is a film about nine girls from different countries around the world and the importance and impact of education in societies. The Girls Learn International chapter is hoping to sell 55 tickets by Jan. 26 for the Feb. 6 screening at 7:30 p.m.
"We’re really hoping to get this film out and educate people about women and their educational rights," said group member, Chelsea Rader. "Being women in our society, we understand the importance of education and freedom. Although our path to education is clear, in order to help other girls around the world we need to make our cause known."
