Police Blotter: Cranford Police Make Several DWI Arrests

The following information was obtained from the Cranford Police. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

March 3

  • At 8 a.m., Officer Joseph Stulpin stopped a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta in the area of Walnut and South avenues. The vehicle was stopped in traffic with the driver slumped over the steering wheel. Officer Stulpin was able to gain entry to the vehicle and secure it from moving. After further investigation on the scene, Officer Stulpin arrested and charged Kristin M. Stanley, 25, of Cranford, for driving while intoxicated and obstructing the flow of traffic. Stanley was released with Cranford Municipal Court proceedings pending.
  • At 6:14 p.m. Sgt. Frank Williams stopped a 1995 Plymouth Neon on Johnson Avenue after Linden Police reported the vehicle had left the scene of a motor vehicle accident in their jurisdiction. After furthering the investigation on scene, Sgt. Williams verified that this was in fact the vehicle wanted out of Linden. Sgt. Williams arrested and charged Alan McPhaul III, 26, of Cranford, for driving while intoxicated and failing to submit breath samples. McPhaul was released with Cranford Municipal Court proceedings pending.

March 4

  • At 11:30 a.m., Officer Joseph Stulpin stopped a 1996 Honda Accord on Hollywood Avenue when the registration on the vehicle came back on a different vehicle. Officer Stulpin conducted an investigation at the scene and discovered the driver, Salimah B. Brown, 28, of Fords had outstanding warrants out of Linden and Elizabeth totaling $950. Brown was issued motor vehicle summonses for ficticious license plates, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving while suspended. Brown was released after posting bail with pending municipal court proceedings.

  • At 8:11 p.m. Officer Brian Lopez stopped a 2000 Pontiac in the area of Centennial Avenue and Myrtle Street for a motor vehicle violation. Officer Lopez conducted an on scene investigation and discovered that the driver, Richard L. Beckett, 26, of Cranford, had outstanding warrants for his arrest out of Montclair in the amount of $3,374. Beckett was arrested for contempt of court and released after posting bail with court proceedings pending.

March 11

  • At 8:50 p.m., Officer Steven D’Ambola observed a 1996 Honda disabled in the area of Centennial Avenue and Raritan Road. Upon investigating this vehicle, Officer D’Ambola conducted a brief on scene investigation and arrested and charged Angela L. Parker, 42, of Pittsburgh, Pa. for possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle. Parker was released with Cranford Municipal Court proceedings pending.

  • At 2:48 a.m. Officer Steven D’Ambola stopped a 2004 Ford F150 in the area of Raritan Road and Walnut Avenue for failing to keep right. Officer D’Ambola conducted a brief investigation at the scene and arrested and charged Shayne T. Wright, 40, of Winfield, for driving while intoxicated and failing to keep right. Wright was released with Cranford Municipal Court proceedings pending.
