The Votes Are In: Tony's Cafe Named Top Pizzeria In Cranford

So, who makes the best pizza in Cranford? Well, according to 29 percent of voters who participated in an online poll on Cranford Patch, is tops.

The North Union Avenue restaurant has been serving slices seven days a week for more than 20 years. Their recipe for success consists of quality ingredients, variety and consistency which has kept customers coming back for two decades.

The local eatery dishes up the standard Italian fare: hot and cold sandwiches, fried calamari, spaghetti, baked ziti, baked ravioli, eggplant parmigiana, shrimp marinara and some old-school Italian favorites such as sausage and peppers, eggplant rollatini and sausage giambotta. Their pasta fagioli is top notch. But what keeps diners coming back is the pizza, with it's spot-on balance of sauce and cheese. One of Ton's specialty pies is the margherita pizza, which feaures slices of fresh mozzarella cheese, tomatoe sauce and basil.

Some of Tony's best customers are actually the employees. Cooks and managers can frequently been seen enjoying a slice or a bowl of soup during lunch breaks.

Annie Bryant, who has worked behind the counter at Tony's for five months, says she was a loyal patron of the shop long before she began serving customers. She especially loves the pizza.

"It has a really unique flavor," Bryant said. "Everything about it is just delicious."
