Brandon is a new patient in my office. He is 14 years old and has been very good about the care of his teeth. But Brandon never had dental sealants placed on his permanent molars and he now has tooth decay. Sadly, too often I see new patients like Brandon that are great brushers but have not had sealants and now have decay and need a filling.

A sealant is a simple, painless and affordable procedure that will help protect your child’s teeth as compared to the more costly filling which will require your child to have anesthesia and drilling of their tooth. The dental sealant, when placed on permanent molars adds a layer of protection to teeth that can last up to 10 years. I often see my college aged and older patients still benefiting from the sealant I provided them when they were 6 or 7 years old. There is no greater feeling than doing the best for our children.

Brandon’s decay was removed and he is fine. I was able to place sealants on his teeth that did not decay and gladly, I placed sealants on his younger sibling’s teeth before decay was able to begin.

E-mail me at dentalinfo@drborker.com to receive the complete story of the dental sealant and how this simple painless technique can protect your children’s teeth for many years.

Lets work together to protect your children.

 Sincerely,

 Gary I. Borker, DMD
