Merchant Spotlight: Belladonna's Yarn Room

A look at Belladonna's Yarn Room.

Donna DelGuercio was introduced to crocheting when she was only 7. She always had a love for it, going to school for clothing design and working in retail for 30 years. Her dream was to open her own yarn store, and last year that dream became a reality when Belladonna’s Yarn Room opened in Downtown Cranford. Donna grew up in Roselle and used to come to Cranford often when she was young. She loved the town, and felt that there wasn’t anything quite like Belladonna’s in the area.

The most popular item sold at the store is, of course, yarn (though Donna also sells furniture, home decor, and prints). Every yarn store stocks different yarn, depending on the owner’s preference. Donna tends to stock ones that are sparkly and have a luxurious look to them. She also offers classes for knitters and crocheters, a Friday night knit club, and a Saturday morning breakfast club. She maintains contact with customers on her Facebook page, as well as a monthly newsletter. Donna emphasizes not only the quality of what she sells, but also the personal customer service she’s able to provide.

Many new customers have discovered Belladonna’s just by walking by the store. Donna loves that owning her own store gives her chance to meet so many people, and that she was so warmly welcomed to town. She knows that soon enough people will be crowding the store, knitting up holiday gifts for family and friends. Whether you’re an experienced knitter or a novice, stop in at Belladonna’s and let Donna guide you.
