For the fifth year, the streets of downtown Cranford are once again decorated with colorful scarecrows made by residents, organizations, schools and business owners.
This annual event shows off the creativity and community spirit of Cranford people and draws visitors from many neighboring towns to see the wild and crazy creations and to vote for their favorites. Some of this year’s entries are Goldilocks, Frosty the Scarecrow, Franken-Gnome, Robo Vampire, Scarecrows & Tiaras, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and Zeus.
But there’s plenty more wild and crazy scarecrows including the creations made by business owners. Scarecrows are on display on the Victorian light poles and at businesses throughout the downtown.
Assistant Downtown Manager Joanne Westcott said voting is open to everyone
and ballots are available at participating businesses, Community Center and Library. Cranford residents received ballots in the mail but can also pick up extras at these locations. Voting runs from Oct. 18 through the 29 and ballots can be dropped into one of the six Scarecrow mailboxes on Victorian light poles. Look for the decorated poles on N. Union Avenue, North Avenue, South Avenue, Alden Street, Eastman Street and Walnut Avenue.
