A Partnership for Change (APFC) is a New Jersey-based, private, non-profit organization dedicated to ending intimate partner violence through the provision of comprehensive education, awareness and prevention programs.

The Intimate Partner Violence Advocate (IPVA) Certification Series is a five-part certification program that is valuable to anyone who provides advocacy and support to families through social services, the schools, the healthcare system or the criminal justice system. The program has been successfully operating in New Jersey since 2009.

Dates :  7/28, 7/31, 8/11, 8/18, 8/25  

All Classes are 9:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

  1. DV101: Domestic Violence Introduction

  2. DV102: Understanding the Victim/Survivor

  3. The Effects of Domestic Violence on Children

  • Teen Dating Abuse

  • DV103: Advocacy & Community Response

  • Professional Credit Information (Nurses, Social Workers, LPC’s, DVS):

    5.5 Contact Hours for Nurses for each of these courses: DV101, Effects on Children & Teen Dating Abuse. This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the New Jersey State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

    DV101 is approved for continuing education by the National Association of Social Workers – NJ Chapter (approval #102501-10561) through 8/31/14; the Effects of Domestic Violence on Children is approved for continuing education by the NASW- NJ Chapter (approval #102501-10562) through 8/31/14; and Teen Dating Abuse is approved for continuing education by the NASW–NJ Chapter (approval #102501-10563) through 8/31/14.  Social workers and LPC’s may receive 5.5 non-clinical credits for EACH of these courses.

    DV102 is approved for continuing education by the National Association of Social Workers – NJ Chapter (approval #102501-10564) through 8/31/14. Social workers and LPC’s will receive 5.5 clinical credits for participating in this course.

    5.5 DVS (Domestic Violence Specialist) credits available for each class, approved by the NJ Coalition for Battered Women.

    Required steps for successful completion: Attendees must complete the entire class; complete the evaluation; and sign the attendance sheet in order to receive credits or contact hours.

    Important Information:

    The speakers have nothing to disclose; there are no conflicts of interest, sponsorship, or financial/commercial support being supplied for these activities.

    Training facility is wheelchair accessible. Workshops are based on best practices that acknowledge and respect the needs of victims from diverse populations.
