Cranford Knights of Columbus Blood Drive
The Cranford Knights of Columbus are hosting their semi-annual Blood Drive on Thursday, November 8th from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at the Cranford Community Center, located at 220 Walnut Avenue, Cranford, NJ.
Donors can be as young as 16 years of age as long as they have a completed Parental Consent Form which must be signed by the parent, in ink and presented at the donor site. (They will be available on site on 11/8 or can be emailed in advance)
There is an option to donate red cells only (system is called ALYX), which allows donors to give two units of red cells in one visit while all the other components (plasma and platelets) are returned to the donor. The recovery time is faster than it is for donating whole blood. The process takes less than 20 minutes -- significantly less than the time it takes to donate platelets.
Also, there is a particular need for donors with O+ or A- blood types. Ideally, O+ and A- donors are perfect ALYX candidates.
If you are available to donate on November 8th and would like to receive a parental consent form or schedule an appointment so that you can get in and out quickly, please email or call the drive chairperson, John Hartnett at firstname.lastname@example.org/908-787-2085. The appointments run at 15 minute intervals beginning at 2:00 pm (3 available slots per 15 minute session).
Thanks for your support!
