How Visiting the Cranford DQ Can Benefit Local Kids

Children's Specialized Hospital will benefit from a special promotion by Dairy Queen on July 26.

Sometimes a cold treat can give you a very warm feeling.

That'll be the case on July 26 when Dairy Queen will be teaming with Children's Specialized Hospital to offer delicious frozen treats to help children in need as part of the sixth annual Miracle Treat Day.

On that day, $1 or more from every Blizzard sold at participating locations will be donated by Dairy Queen to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a charity that raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada. Proceeds from the sale of Blizzards at the following participating locations in New Jersey will benefit Children’s Specialized Hospital.

To do your part, just drop by the on July 26 and order up your Blizzard! For other locations, visit DairyQueen.com.

John Gainor, president and CEO of International Dairy Queen, Inc. (IDQ), thanks everyone who supports Miracle Treat Day.

“When we first decided to host a system-wide event that would involve the entire Dairy Queen family, we had no idea how much impact it would have and how it would grow in size and popularity each year," Gainor said. "Miracle Treat Day has become such a celebration of life and hope, as well as a fundraiser that draws support from local communities of families, neighbors, friends and people from all walks of life who are eager to help the children in their cities and towns who need it the most. The Dairy Queen system really pulls out all the stops to make this event successful each year.”

Although the new Chocolate Candy Shop is the Blizzard of the Month for July, the Oreo Blizzard will be the Miracle Treat Day “Blizzard of the Day.” The Oreo Blizzard still holds the title as the most popular flavor since the treat was served upside down with a spoon in 1985. All currently featured flavors will be available on Miracle Treat Day.

Since 1984, Dairy Queen has raised over $90 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals – including $5 million from Miracle Treat Day in 2011. The money raised in New Jersey on Miracle Treat Day will support rehabilitative services for disabled children at Children’s Specialized Hospital locations throughout the state — including Fanwood and Mountainside.

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children’s hospitals across North America. When a donation is given it stays in the community, helping local kids. Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has raised more than $4 billion, most of it $1 at a time. These donations have gone to support research and training, purchase equipment, and pay for uncompensated care. Learn more at CMNHospitals.org.
