Locals Turn to Crowd Sourcing to Pay Medical Bills

Garwood families hope to raise money through Go Fund Me.

Garwood residents hope the kindness of strangers on the Internet will help raise the money needed to cover medical bills.

The families of Hamilton Webster and Lenny Tripodi are now among the growing trend of people using crowd funding sources like Go Fund Me to raise money for everything from medical bills to a honeymoon to a trip to a cheerleading squad's trip to Orlando.

Webster died in November just three days after a cancer diagnosis and the campaign hopes to raise $8,000 to cover costs associated with his illness. Click here to learn more about the campaign.

Tripodi was born on April 19 with a congenital heart defect and has since undergone two open heart surgeries and rehabilitation. His  Go Fund Me campaign, Lenny's Sea of Love, hopes to raise $5,000 to cover future treatments. Click here to learn more about the campaign.
