Learn the Fundamentals of Marketing in Just a Few Weeks

This spring, Union County College is offering several new non-credit marketing classes, including a certificate in Marketing Fundamentals, to provide individuals with critical knowledge to market their organizations and to stay ahead of the competition. In addition to the new certificate program, classes on Internet Marketing and Social Media Marketing for Business will also be offered through the Continuing Education department.

The Marketing Fundamentals certificate program includes three classes: Marketer’s Boot Camp, Strategy for Marketers, and Marketing Intelligence and Research. Through this program, students will learn fundamental marketing concepts including SWOT analysis, marketing principles, how to write a marketing plan, and effectively integrating technology within a marketing strategy. This program is ideal for business professionals, entrepreneurs, small business owners, technology professionals, or anyone else looking to seek a better understanding of marketing.

The first class, Marketer’s Boot Camp, meets on Monday and Wednesday from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm from January 28 to February 13. 

Strategy for Marketers will be held on Monday and Wednesday from
February 20– March 11 and Marketing Intelligence and Research will run on
Monday and Wednesday from March 13 – April 8. These classes meet from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.

All organizations should have an online presence today and two classes, Internet Marketing and Social Media Marketing for Business, teach the key fundamentals needed to improve your online marketing. In Internet Marketing, students will learn a basic knowledge of search engine optimization and how to create unique marketing content, as well as basic knowledge of internet reputation management.  This class emphasizes how to improve one’s online presence and stand out on the internet. Students will also learn the basics of newer social media platforms for business such as Pinterest and Google +. This class will meet on Thursday from January 24 - February 14 from 7:00 pm – 9:00 p.m.

Social Media Marketing for Business provides a more basic introduction to social media applications like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube to help organizations get their messages out to the masses. This class will teach students how these tools to help make new connections with fans and customers that will ultimately drive business results. This class will meet on Saturday, February 9 from 9:00 am – 12:00 p.m.
