Emphasizing the contributions of New Jersey's manufacturing industry in strengthening job creation and business growth in their local communities, Acting Governor Kim Guadagno today visited Tinton Falls’ Ranger Industries, a manufacturer of inks, embossing powders and craft products for the worldwide arts and crafts market. In addition to providing jobs for its workers, Ranger Industries also purchases goods and services from other local businesses to support its own operations, further sustaining jobs for people within the Central Jersey region. The visit marks the Acting Governor's third stop on her month long tour of manufacturers across New Jersey, with a spotlight on the importance of New Jersey’s manufacturing sector to the state and local economies. Ranger purchases many critical goods and services, including dyes, pigments, glitter and molding, from other New Jersey companies.
“Based in New Jersey for more than 80 years, Ranger Industries has played an important role in New Jersey’s manufacturing economy,” said Acting Governor Kim Guadagno. “When the firm was at a crossroads, Ranger recommitted itself to growing and expanding in New Jersey thanks to valuable state incentives and access to some of the most important ports in the world. Today, not only is Ranger Industries providing jobs and futures for New Jersey workers, it is further advancing the Garden State economy through its purchasing of local goods and services.”
To attract and retain manufacturers, New Jersey offers several incentives aimed at expanding the state’s economy. Incentives include tax exemption programs designed just for manufacturers; rebates and low-cost financing for renewable energy systems, equipment and technologies that save energy; grants for job growth that provide direct payments to businesses that create jobs in New Jersey; sales and use tax exemptions for the purchase of fixtures, furniture, building materials and equipment needed for business relocation; and workforce training grants that provide skilled training, education and a wide range of support to workers and employers.
Since taking office in January 2010, the Christie Administration has helped nearly forty-five manufacturers locate or expand in New Jersey, creating nearly 8,200 jobs, retaining more than 1,800 jobs and generating more than $2 billion in private investment in the state.
Founded in 1929 in West Orange, Ranger Industries started as a manufacturer of commercial ink products for the banking industry. In 1979, the company developed private label art stamp pads and in 1998 started marketing its own lines of inks and embossing powders to the public. Several years ago the company closed its Pennsylvania facility and moved its operations into the company’s existing Tinton Falls site. Since then, demand has led Ranger Industries to add new jobs and now employs more than 80 workers.
