BREAKING: Burglaries Hit Cranford Homes While Residents Sleep

Police urge residents to lock all doors and windows.

UPDATE (1:54 p.m.): The burglaries have occurred over the last two weeks in north Cranford, near the Kenilworth and Roselle Park line. There are no suspects as of yet. Burglaries like this have been known to happen in Cranford, but not often.

Police are investigating three overnight burglaries to single family homes in the Cranford, Kenilworth and Roselle Park area.

The crimes are occurring in the late evening hours while residents are asleep, said Lt. Robert Colaneri, public information officer for the Cranford Police Department. The burglar is entering the homes through unlocked lower level windows and doors, and taking money from purses and wallets left on kitchen countertops and other places.

Police urge Cranford residents to lock all doors and windows before settling down to sleep or leaving the home.
