Cranford Fire Department Responds to Jackson Drive Blaze
There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
The Cranford Fire Department responded to a fire at Partners Pharmacy on Jackson Drive Friday afternoon.
According to Inspector Wojcik, the blaze began in one vehicle before quickly spreading to the electrical equipment that services the building. From there, the fire spread to a second vehicle. Wojcik said the combination of plastics, the wooden fence surrounding the electrical equipment, and the fuel within the car made, "a very impressive fire." At about 3:30 p.m., after the fire had been extinguished, the parking lot still smelled of burning plastic and rubber.
Employees of Partners Pharmacy were evacuated from the building soon after discovery of the blaze. There were no injuries, but several vehicles within the lot were damaged due to heat and smoke exposure. The building suffered minimal damage, and as of 3:30 p.m. employees had returned to work. Back-up generators were utilized to service the building.
