Cranford Juvenile Robbed Of Cash On Lincoln Avenue

The following information was obtained from the Cranford Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

A Cranford juvenile was robbed of his money while walking on Lincoln Avenue on June 29, at 8:41 p.m.

According to reports, received a call for a strong-armed robbery that had just occurred on Lincoln Avenue at Retford Avenue.

The victim, a Cranford juvenile, was approached by two juveniles who demanded money. One of the actors allegedly pushed the victim and took his money. Patrolman Nelson Hearns stopped two juveniles fitting the description given by the victim on Chestnut Street near High Street, and they were taken into custody.

One juvenile was described as a 17-year-old from Plainfield, and the other was described as a 15-year-old Elizabeth resident.

Following an investigation by Detective Sgt. Christopher Polito and Detective Ryan Greco, both juveniles were charged with second degree robbery. The 15-year-old was also found to be in possession of items reported stolen from car burglaries in the neighboring borough of Kenilworth. He was charged with receiving stolen property. Both juveniles were transported to the Union County Detention Center until their court appearance.
