Andrew Johnson, 29, of Cranford was arrested on May 7 for distributing images of child sexual abuse on an Internet sharing site.

Andrew Johnson, 29, was arrested on the morning of May 7 for distributing images of child pornography on his computer in his Cranford home after an undercover investigation, according to U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman.

Johnson appeared in court on the afternoon of May 7 and was released on 100,000 bail, he was charged by complaint with one count of distributing images of child sexual abuse over the Internet, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

On three different occasions in July and December 2012 and April 2013 an undercover agent discovered Johnson distributing the images on an internet sharing site and traced the IP address of the user on the website back to Johnson’s Cranford residence.

In a report on NJ.com, the law enforcement personnel wrote in the complaint: “Johnson admitted to law enforcement officers that he “has a collection of child pornography images and videos and is sexually aroused by videos depicting child pornography.”

The FBI, Newark Division’s Child Exploitation Task Force and the Cranford Police Department were credited by Fishman with the investigation leading to the May 7 arrest.
