Cranford Officer Honored For DWI Enforcement

NJ Mother Against Drunk Driving recognized Cranford Patrolman Steven D'Ambola.


A Cranford Patrolman was recognized by the New Jersey chaprer of Mothers Against Drunk Driving for his 2012 Driving While Intoxicated enforcement record, according to the Cranford Police Department.

Ptl. Steven D’Ambola, currently assigned to the Patrol Division, led the department with 13 DWI arrests last year.

In 2011, D’Ambola also received the MADD honor, as well as the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety’s “Top Gun” award. He also was the leader in Union County, with 26 impaired driver arrests, according to Cranford PD.

Cranford Police Chief Eric Mason said that impaired driving is taken very seriously in Cranford and that over 30 percent of fatal crashes can be attributed in some way to alcohol.

“We know that drunk driving needlessly and recklessly endangers innocent lives,” Mason said in a release. “I applaud Officer D’Ambola and all of those officers in Cranford and statewide who are working day and night to keep New Jersey’s roads safe.”
