Cranford Patrolman Honored By New Jersey Chapter of MADD

Patrolman Steven D'Ambola of the was recognized by New Jersey Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) on June 14,  for his dedication to keeping our roadways safe from impaired drivers, the Cranford PD announed Monday.

MADD issued the following statement regarding Patrolman D'Ambola's efforts: "Your unceasing dedication to the life saving efforts of keeping our roads safe from the impaired driver, underage drinker, or distracted/inattentive driver, are accomplishments that have prevented the creation of more victims and victims survivors. You make an important difference, and the public depends on you to keep our world safe and more humane."

The Distinguished Service Award by MADD-New Jersey Chapter is the second recognition Patrolman D'Ambola received this year. In May he was awarded a 2011 award by the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety in recognition of his ongoing efforts in detecting and arresting drunk and impaired drivers. The “Top Gun” award is given to one officer per county and to each New Jersey State Police troop.

Patrolman D’Ambola led all Union County police officers with 26 impaired driver arrests in 2011. D’Ambola is a seven year veteran of the Cranford Police Department and is currently assigned to the Patrol Division. The Cranford Police Department reported a total of 85 impaired driver arrests in 2011.
