Cranford Police Make Drug Arrests

Police activity from September 29 to October 3.

Cranford Police made several arrests relating to drugs last week.

Tuesday, September 29:
Police received a call at 1:45 p.m. from a resident who said that her daughter left the house intoxicated and in her vehicle. Approximately an hour later, Detective Sgt. Gerard Quinn observed the vehicle and stopped it on North Avenue at Forest Avenue.  Through further investigation, the driver Stefanie Goralski, 20, of Cranford was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Wednesday, September 30:
Officer Spencer Durkin stopped a driver for talking on her cell phone at 2:11 p.m. Through further investigation, the driver Jill Lewandowski, 28, of Linden was issued summonses for cell phone use, driving while suspended, failure to wear seatbelt and an outstanding warrant out of East Rutherford. The passenger Joseph Astalos, 30, of Linden was arrested for possession of a hypodermic needle and outstanding warrants out of several jurisdictions.

Saturday, October 3:
Officer Donald Zsak stopped a vehicle near Raritan and Centennial avenues at 10:15 p.m when he spotted a passenger not wearing his seatbelt. Through further investigation the passenger, James Johnson, 71, of East Orange was charged with possession of cocaine and CDS paraphernalia. The driver, Havert Lane, 67, of Irvington was charged with possession of CDS paraphernalia, possession of cocaine, destruction of evidence, and possession of a prescription drug. Both suspects were released on complaint summonses.
