Medivac Lands On Parkway Following Motor Vehicle Crash

Traffic was halted in both directions as rescue workers attempted to extricate a victim.

A medivac helicopter landed on the Garden State Parkway at about 6:50 p.m. Saturday following a motor vehicle accident with an entrapment.

According to reports, the accident occurred in the southbound lanes of the parkway near exit 136 in Cranford. Reports indicate that at least one victim was pinned inside a vehicle, requiring rescue workers to extricate the patient. Due to the seriousness of the injuries, medical units also requested a medivac helicopter to transport the victim to a nearby trauma center.

Traffic came to a halt as all lanes of the parkway were shut down while rescue crews worked to remove the victim from the vehicle. The helicopter landed on the highway near the North Avenue exit in Cranford. The patient was transported to University Hospital in Newark.
