Officer Arrests Bicyclist for Suspected Marijuana Possession

Cranford Police activity from Aug. 30-Sept 1.

This week Cranford Police reported arresting a suspect who provided a false name in the hopes of avoiding arrest, and a man who allegedly carried marijuana with him on an early morning bike ride.

Sept. 2

Police arrested Donald Bordenave,22, of Hillside for supplying Officer John Rattigan with a false name after he pulled Bordenave over in a black Nissan Maxima. Not only was Bordenave charged for hindering his own arrest but also for two outstanding warrants out of Sayreville and Hillside. The arrest was made around 12:15 a.m. on North Avenue by the Garden State Parkway.

Sept. 1

Police arrested a bicycle rider, Rahman Anderson 32, of Roselle, charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. Police also found that Anderson had a warrant out for his arrest from East Orange.

Initially, officer Brian Lopez stopped the bicyclist by the corner of South Avenue and Hollywood Avenue around 3:53 a.m. for riding without a light.

Aug. 30

Terence Joseph, 23, of West Orange was arrested by officer Thomas Stiansen, suspected of possessing under 50 grams of marijuana. He was initially pulled over by Stiansen in a Nissan Ultima on Centennial Avenue around 1:40 a.m., after the officer said he observed the driver use a cell phone. Further investigation revealed enough evidence for drug charges.

Stiansen was also given a summons for using a cell phone while driving.
