Officers Nab Suspects for Drugs Stowed in Vehicles

Cranford Police activity from July 30 through August 3.

Cranford Police Department reported a variety of arrests for drug possession this week. Originally pulled over for minor traffic violations, such as a faulty brake light or talking on a cell phone, these suspects were then charged further after investigations yielded suspected illegal substances in the vehicle.

Tuesday, Aug. 3

On Raritan Road at around 3 a.m., Officer Robert Jordan stopped a vehicle on Raritan Road after noticing that the driver Colin Stickles, 18, was talking into his cell phone. After inspecting the vehicle, Jordan arrested Stickles for alleged possession of marijuana and paraphernalia – and issued him a summons for cell phone usage.

Sunday, July 31 

After noticing a vehicle driving with a brake light out, Officer Brian Lopez pulled it over on the corner of Raritan Road and Moen Avenue around 10 p.m. Investigating further, Lopez arrested the driver, Linden resident Victor Hodge Jr, 25, and charged him with possessing Oxycodone and marijunana. He was also issued a summons for driving without a license and for the broken brake light.

Saturday, July 30

After pulling over a vechicle on the Garden State Parkway North around 10 p.m. for an improper lane change, Officer Donald Zsak arrested the driver, Anthony Alfano, 30, of Kenilworth, for alleged possession of heroin, marijuana and ecstasy. Alfano was also charged for drug paraphernalia. On top of that, Zsak issued him a traffic summons for the improper lane change.
