Police Blotter: Botched Burglary on Baltimore Avenue

This week's Cranford Police reports

In a possible attempt at burglary, an individual damaged a rear screen and window pane of a Baltimore Avenue residence on March 29, according to Det. Sgt. Gerard Quinn of the Cranford Police Department.

After discovering the damage, residents called police to their home around 8:53 p.m.  Officers believe the perpetrator, startled by the arrival of the homeowner shortly before 7 p.m., may have fled through the rear yard towards Hory Street. Police are asking that anyone with information on the incident contact Quinn at 908-709-7337.

  • Cranford Police arrested 30-year-old Maria Bruscianelli of Westfield, charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol on March 22.

Around 10 p.m. Bruscianelli allegedly struck a telephone pole on Lincoln Avenue East by Denman Road with a 2004 Jeep Liberty. Police responded to the incident. In addition to charging Bruscinelli for driving while intoxicated, she was also charged with careless driving.

  • Police arrested 26-year-old Luis Gonzalez of Elizabeth, charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol around 2:22 a.m. on March 24. An officer pulled over Gonzalez, driving a tow truck, on South Avenue West by Washington Street after noticing the vehicle did not have headlights on. Gonzalez was also reportedly driving erratically.
  •  Police apprehended 24-year-old Christopher Pateiro of Harrison for driving while under the influence of alcohol on March 25. An officer pulled over Pateiro, driving a 2006 Nissan Sentra, on North Avenue East by Springfield Avenue around 12 a.m. for an inoperable brake light. The officer allegedly detected the odor of alcohol and located an open alcoholic drink in the vehicle.
