Police Blotter: Georgia Man Allegedly Provides False ID to Police

The following information was provided by the Cranford Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

 

March 14

  • At 3:02 a.m., an occupied suspicious vehicle described as a 2009 Lexus was located and checked parked on North Lehigh Avenue. Following a brief investigation at the scene, Patrolman Spencer Durkin arrested the driver, Gun Jang, 35, of West Orange, for allegedly driving while intoxicated. He was processed and released pending an appearance in Municipal Court.

  • At 4:19 p.m., Patrolman Brian Lopez stopped a 2000 black Honda on Moen Street at Jackson Drive for a passenger seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Lopez located several small bags of suspected marijuana and arrested the passenger, who was identified as Steven Campos, 19, of North Arlington. He was processed and released pending an appearance in Municipal Court. Two other vehicle occupants were released from the scene.

March 16

  • At 2:23 a.m., Patrolman Robert Jordan stopped a 1995 green Mercury for erratic driving and failure to maintain a lane on South Avenue West at Washington Place. Following a brief investigation at the scene, Patrolman Jordan arrested the driver, identified as Javier Lescano, 27, of North Plainfield for allegedly driving while intoxicated. Lescano, who was also charged with having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle, was processed and released pending a court appearance in Municipal Court.

  • At 9:42 a.m., Patrolman Brian Lopez stopped a 2013 black Toyota for a passenger seatbelt violation on Centennial Avenue at Hayes Street. During the investigation at the scene, the passenger, identified as Kwame Darby, 22, of Cuthbert, Georgia, allegedly provided several false identities to police. After his correct identity was verified, he was arrested for providing false information to police. He was processed and released pending a court appearance in Municipal Court on March 27. The driver of the vehicle, Marc Vanover, 40, of Newark, was found to have an outstanding traffic warrant from Elizabeth. Vanover was also arrested and was released after posting bail.
