Police Blotter: Officers Investigate Raritan Avenue Burglary

Perpetrator stole laptop computer from the second floor.

  • Police are investigating a residential burglary that occurred on Raritan Road April 9 around 11 p.m., where an individual entered a home by removing a screen and forcing open a bathroom window, according to Sgt. Det. Gerard Quinn of the Cranford Police Department. 

The perpetrator stole an Apple laptop computer from a second floor bedroom.  The case is being investigated by Det. Ryan Greco of the Cranford Police Department, and officers are asking that anyone with information on this incident call 908-709-7339.

Here are the rest of this week's law enforcement reports:

  • Cranford Police arrested 54-year-old Dimitri Chronis of Union for driving while under the influence of alcohol and refusing to submit to a breath test given to determine his level of intoxication on April 7, according to Sgt. Det. Gerard Quinn of the Cranford Police Department.

Ptl. Spencer Durkin pulled over Chronis on North Avenue by Elizabeth Avenue after he allegedly failed to stop at a red traffic light.

After being arrested, Chronis received a court date of April 13 in Cranford Municipal Court. 

  •  On April 8 Cranford Police apprehended 29-year-old Fallon McGough of Elizabeth, charged with cocaine possession , and  26-year-old Jerrson Cortes of Linden, charged with marijuana possession.

Both were passengers in  a 2000 red Hyundai stopped by Ptl. Brian Lopez around 8 p.m. on Centennial Avenue by Hayes Street. The patrolman pulled over the car after noticing that at least two passengers were not wearing seatbelts.

Lopez also arrested driver James Baird, 31, of Linden for alleged possession of a hypodermic syringe.  

  • Police arrested 27-year-old Edwin De-Leongalvez of Plainfield, charged with driving while intoxicated on April 9 around 3 a.m. Patrolman Christopher DiFabio stopped De-Leongalvez, driving a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta, on North Avenue by Springfield Avenue for an inoperable taillight.
