Police Blotter: Plainfield Man Arrested For Disorderly Conduct Following a Disturbance

The following information was obtained from the Cranford Police. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Aug. 9

  • At 8:20 p.m., following a motor vehicle stop for violations on Raritan Road, Patrolman Brian Wagner arrested a suspect identified as Tony Rose, 20, of Cranford, for an outstanding criminal warrant from Clifton and Sherese Allen, 21, of Piscataway, for an outstanding traffic warrant from Rahway.  Rose was processed and turned over to officers from the Clifton Police Department in lieu of $2,500 bail.  Allen was processed and released with a new court appearance scheduled in Rahway Municipal Court.

Aug. 10

  • At 12:03 a.m., Patrolman John Rattigan arrested James Gelson, 48, of Cranford for two outstanding criminal warrants. According to reports, Gelson was arrested at his South Union Avenue home on two warrants from Lancaster County, Pa. Gelson was processed in Cranford and transferred to the Union County Jail pending extradition to Pennsylvania.
  • At 3:28 p.m., Patrolman Timothy O'Brien arrested Abdushabur Ahmad, 22, of Newark, on outstanding criminal and traffic warrants from Wayne. According to police, the arrest was made following a motor vehicle stop for violations in the area of North Avenue East and Carpenter Place. Ahmad was processed and released after posting $715 bail.

  • At 1:10 a.m., West Orange resident Wilmer Noyola, 21, was arrested by Patrolman Jordan for allegedly driving while intoxicated. Police stopped Noyola in a 997 Nissan Sentra on North Avenue West for erratic driving.  Following a brief investigation at the scene, Noyola was arrested for DWI and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. He was processed and released with a court date.

  • Police arrested a 17-year-old Cranford boy at 12:03 a.m. at Orange Avenue School for underage consumption of alcohol. Following an investigation at the Orange Avenue School property, Patrolman John Rattigan arrested a 17-year-old male suspected of drinking alcohol in the rear of the school property. The male was processed and released to a parent and the matter was referred to family court.
  • At 10:08 p.m., Patrolman Brian Lopez arrested a suspect identified as Daryl Harris, 23, of Plainfield for disorderly conduct. Following a police response to a large disturbance in progress on Johnson Avenue, police arrested Harris when he failed to follow officer commands and was belligerent toward several witnesses. Harris was processed and released with a municipal court date.

Aug. 14

  • Police arrested Terrance Ryan, 51, of Toms River for driving while intoxicated and careless driving. At 3:39 a.m., on North Avenue East, Patrolman Spencer Durkin stopped Ryan in a 2002 Saturn for erratic driving. Following an investigation at the scene, the suspect was arrested for DWI. he was processed and released with a court date.

Aug. 15

  • At 1:41 a.m., Patrolman Steven D'Ambola arrested Cranford resident Devin Chiari, 20, for driving while intoxicated and careless driving. The officer stopped Chiari on North Union Avenue in a 1993 Pontiac for erratic driving and a near collision witnessed byt the officer. Following an investigation at the scene, the driver was arrested for DWI. He was processed and released with a court date.
  • A North Plainfield man was arrested for possession of marijuana following an investigation at 3:42 a.m. Following a suspicious person investigation on Elise Street, Patrolman Christopher DiFabio arrested Khalif McMillan, 20, for possession of marijuana. Subsequent to the initial arrest, McMillan was found to have 33 small bags of suspected marijuana concealed on his person.  He was processed and transferred to the Union County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. He was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, distribution of a controlled dangerous substance in a school zone, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. The basis for the school zone charge is the Crestview School, located on Lincoln Avenue West.
