Police Blotter: Police Arrest Man for Unlawful Possession of a Handgun

The Cranford Police activity for the week.

Cranford Police arrested Kristoffer Koch for Unlawful Possession of a Handgun Tuesday. Koch was stopped on Raritan Road near the Garden State Parkway Southbound exchange for a seatbelt violation. During an investigation on scene, Officer Brian Lopez observed the muzzle of a silver handgun protruding from beneath the rear seat of the vehicle.  The weapon, a Byco Arms, 9mm semi automatic hand gun and Koch was placed under arrest. He was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Handgun and Failure to Wear a Seatbelt.  Koch was transported to Union County Jail, where he is being held on $15, 000 bail.

  • Tyrone Tiru was arrested for Contempt of Court. Following a suspicious person investigation on Johnson Ave near Elise Street, Officer Brian Lopez arrested Tiru on an outstanding traffic warrant from the Seaside Heights Municipal Court.  He was processed and released with a new Court date.
  • Jason Hall was arrested for Contempt of Court. Hall was stopped on the Garden State Parkway Exit 137 Northbound entrance ramp for a motor vehicle violation, when Officer Daniel Norton discovered an outstanding warrant from the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office.  Hall was processed and turned over to the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office.
