Police Blotter: Suspects Arrested For Outstanding Warrants

The following information was obtained from the Cranford Police. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Routine traffic stops and a calls regarding a dispute in town led to the arrest of individuals on three separate occasions who were wanted for having outstanding warrants.

April 17

  • At 11:33 p.m., Officer Brian Wagner stopped a 2001 Toyota Rav 4 for a motor vehicle violation in the area of Raritan Road and Centennial Ave. While conducting an on scene investigation Officer Wagner learned that the driver, Winfred K. Abimah, 53, of Hillside, was a wanted fugitive out of Essex County. Abimah had a "no bail warrant" from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department. Abmiah was placed under arrest for contempt of court and transported to the Essex County Jail with Superior Court proceedings pending.

April 18

  • At 2 p.m., Officer John Heesters responded to a call of a dispute and while conducting an on-scene investigation learned that one of the involved parties, Robert S. Kalinowski, 54, of Cranford, was a wanted fugitive out of Union County. Kalinowski had a no bail warrant from the Union County Sheriff’s Department. Kalinowski was placed under arrest and transported to the Union County Jail with Superior Court proceedings pending.

April 23

  • At 12:35 p.m., Officer Daniel Norton responded to an accident in the area of South Avenue and South Union Avenue. After conducting an on-scene investigation it was determined that the driver, Andrew C. Williams, 21, of Madison, had outstanding warrants out of Cranford and Bayonne in the amount of $966. Williams was placed under arrested for contempt of court and subsequently released after posting bail. Williams has Municipal Court proceedings pending.
