Police: East Windsor Accident Results From No Traffic Signal

Power outage results in traffic accident at the intersection of Route 33 and Route 130

East Windsor Police said there was a motor vehicle accident Wednesday with minor injuries as a result of no power at a traffic signal.

A collision occurred at 2:54 p.m. on Oct. 31 when two vehicles entered the intersection of Route 33 and Route 130, which, due to the power loss after Hurricane Sandy, had no traffic signal.

The driver, who was attempting to cross Route 130 on Route 33, was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton with a complaint of neck and back pain.

Police said they have not received any other storm-related injury reports at this time. Reporting may be delayed due to area power outages, police said.

Nobody in East Windsor knows how to drive. Everybody seems to think they have the right away. The law is as follows... TRAFFIC SIGNAL BLACKOUT—If all traffic signal lights are not working because of an electrical power failure, you must stop at the intersection and then proceed when you know other turning and approaching vehicles, bicycles, or pedestrians have stopped. A blacked-out traffic signal works the same as a four-way stop intersection. Be safe!
